Report of the Performance Measurement Workgroups

At the October 24th meeting, the AQA directed the Performance Measurement Workgroup to continue its work in expanding the starter set of measures. The Performance Measurement Workgroup reviewed measurement sets in emergency medicine, GERD, hematology, and oncology.
The Workgroup also developed principles for the appropriateness measures to assist measure developers. The Cost of Care Measures Workgroup paired down the candidate list of conditions for cost of care measurement to a smaller set of conditions for future measure development and worked on a draft document on cost of care measurement. The purpose of this document is to define the objectives of cost of care measures and the key components to help insure reliable measurement.
The Performance Measurement Workgroup has reviewed these work products and referred them to the AQA for review and endorsement.
Objectives for the session:
- Review and approve the prioritized list of conditions for cost of care work and the cost of care measures document.
- Review and approve the quality metrics for emergency medicine, GERD, hematology, and oncology.
