Report of the Performance Measurement Workgroups

At the April 26th meeting, the AQA directed the Performance Measurement Workgroup to continue its work in expanding the starter set of measures. Along with the Acute/ Chronic Care and Surgery/ Procedures Workgroups, the Performance Measurement Workgroup reviewed measurement sets in dermatology, rheumatology/ clinical endocrinology, radiology/ neurology, ophthalmology, surgery, and orthopedic surgery. The Workgroup also reviewed AHRQ’s CAHPS® Clinician and Group Survey. The Cost of Care Measures Workgroup developed a candidate list of conditions for cost of care measurement work and advanced a discussion document on cost of care measurement.
The Performance Measurement Workgroup has reviewed these work products and referred them to the AQA for review and endorsement.
Objectives for the session:
- Review and endorse the Guide for the Selection of Performance Measures for Medical Subspecialty Care
- Review and endorse the Surgery/ Procedure Workgroup Mission and Principles
- Review and endorse the registry principles document
- Review and endorse the quality metrics for dermatology, radiology/ neurology, rheumatology/ clinical endocrinology, ophthalmology, surgery, and orthopedic surgery
- Review and endorse the candidate list of conditions for cost of care work
- Review and endorse the CAHPS® Clinician and Group Survey including composite measures
- Review and discuss work in progress
- Additional issues for future PM development
